Penis Enlargement Surgery

Does Penis Enlargement Surgery Work?

By far the most expensive technique -- up to $10,000 a go --and the most dangerous, is penis surgery, a cosmetic surgery to lengthen and thicken the penis. It's also the most controversial.

It involves severing the the suspensory ligament holding the penis to the pelvic bone, and an additional surgery to widen it by lipo sucking fat from the abdomen and injecting it along the shaft of the penis.

In the USA the American Urological Association and the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPRS) do not endorse this procedure.  But it's not stopping doctors from operating.   One surgeon estimates that 15 000 American men have had their penises 'enhanced" in the last year.  He lays claim to 700 of these himself and says he is pleased with his success rate. "There are fewer and fewer problems as time goes on.  There is a learning curve as with everything."

It's questionable if you should sign up for penis enhancement surgery with a doctor that is on a "learning curve".  Dr. Melvyn Rosenstein, a.k.a. Dr. Dick, a California physician who claimed to have done more of these operations (5,000) than anyone else, was forced to surrender his license to practice medicine amid gathering allegations of gross negligence and incompetence.

But the results aren't always under your control.  Urologist Dr Gary Rheinschild does brisk business correcting the botched handiwork of other penis surgery doctors.  "The penis hangs down when an erection is achieved in stead of pointing up.  Also the fat injected is usually absorbed back into the body after about a year so the widening effect is lost.  The fat injected sometimes forms unsightly and painful lumps.  I often have to do more than 2 surgeries to correct other's mistakes.  I had a man in here who had 7 surgeries before I even started on him".   According to the Net Doctor penis surgery should only be conducted on men with a penis of 1.575 inches when flaccid and 2.756 inches when erect.

Side effects of penis surgery includes infection, scarring, lack of sensation, curved penis, foul smelling discharges, impotency, urination problems, painful erections and more.  But the most unfortunate side effect of penis surgery is inherent in the very procedure. Cut loose from the pelvic bone, the penis becomes unstable, slipping and jarring during intercourse. Patients must hang weights from their penises for up to a few months following the procedure to prevent shrinkage.  Then there's the "scrotal dog ears" syndrome, which occurs when the penis sinks down into the scrotum, giving the appearance of a long-nosed dog with bulbous ears.

Patient Feedback :

I have had numerous patients who have considered penis enlargement surgery but only two have managed to take the next step.

A 42 year old patient of mine, James (not his real name) is pleased with the 1,5 inch that has been added.  "My wife thought I was being silly, but I wasn't doing it for her.  I was doing it for me.  Like people losing weight or doing weight lifting.  It make's me feel like I am in control."

The other patient, Ronald (not his real name) was somewhat pleased but had experienced scarring with ridges developing at the base of the penis.  Through the use of skin oil he was able to reduce it to a point where it does not bother him any more.  He gained 2 full inches in length but does not seem to be able to obtain the same rigid erection he had before.  "It looks impressive" is all that I could get out of him.

Bottom Line

There are no peer reviewed articles that show that it's an effective and lasting procedure.  Even in the best hands it is a procedure that may not be done safely and effectively.  If you are considering penis surgery for pure cosmetic reasons, you'd better think twice.

For a more affordable and effective non surgical method of penis enlargement you should consider a penis traction device.
